Policies and Procedures for Managing Research Degree Candidatures

The policies and procedures which shape a student’s candidature and the various forms which need to be completed from time to time are documented and readily available. They have been developed through the University Graduate School Board, which is the decision-making body governing research degree candidatures. The Board has developed its policies by also taking into consideration the policies of the Australian Government Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) on Research Training Scheme places (RTS).The Board also works closely with the Research and Research Training Committee to refer to the Committee issues and implications of research training policy matters. Research students and their supervisors are also bound by the rules and policies of UTS.

UTS has developed a code of practice and a Framework for Quality Research Education pdf for supervisors and research degree students.

The University Graduate School works in partnership with the Faculties to strengthen the network of staff pdf who administer research degree candidatures.

The Dean of the University Graduate School is a member of the Council of Deans and Directors of Graduate Schools of Australian universities.
