Applying for Leave of Absence

UTS students are now able to apply for up to two semesters of leave of absence online.

Applications should be made before the census date of the semester you wish to commence your leave. The census date for Autumn semester is 31 March and the census date for Spring semester is 31 August. You should also have completed satisfactorily at least one semester of your course.

Please DO NOT USE this form if you are in receipt of a scholarship that pays regular stipends, such as an APA, UTS Doctoral or Faculty specific Scholarship, as there may be specific conditions governing leave that have to be considered separately. Please consult the Application for Leave from Scholarship and Candidature information available online at www.gradschool.uts.edu.au/policies/Scholarships.html

For more information on the rules governing leave of absence, go to the Student and Related rules website relevant to postgraduate research students.

Once you have submitted your application, you will receive an email confirming receipt of your application and another email (at a later date) informing you of the outcome of your application. Please make sure that you check your UTS email account on a regular basis or have it forwarded to an account that you check.
If you are applying for a leave of absence that falls outside the usual guidelines, you should attach any relevant documents to support your application. Lodge the completed hard copy of the form, signed by yourself and your supervisor, with the Research Administrator of your Faculty.
